How To Make Cake Pops
How to Make Cake Pops - Cake pops are quite the popular dessert nowadays.
Learning how to make cake balls is relatively easy. Once you learn how to make them, you can impress your friends, family, and coworkers with these cute balls of yumminess. For directions on how to make cake pops, follow the simple steps listed below.
Prepare and bake any flavor of cake, according to package instructions, or recipe. Allow the cake to cool completely. Once cooled, take your (clean) hands and break the cake, crumbling it into fine pieces. Alternately, you can use a food processor.
In a large bowl, combine half a package of frosting, approximately eight ounces, with the cake crumbs. Mix thoroughly, until it is blended together into a thick consistency. Feel free to add more, if needed.
Once the cake mixture is ready, take a small amount and roll into a 1-inch sized ball. Place the ball on a baking pan or cookie sheet. Continue this step until the cake mixture is used up. You may need more than one cookie sheet to fit all the cake balls.
Cover the cookie sheet with plastic wrap, and place in the refrigerator or freezer for a minimum of one hour, to allow the balls to become firmer. This will be important for the next step.
When the balls have hardened, melt chocolate into a bowl. You can use any type of chocolate you prefer - dark, milk, white, etc. Remove the cake balls from the refrigerator or freezer, and insert a stick into each ball. For aesthetic reasons, the stick should be inserted into the flat side that had been lying against the cookie sheet. Make sure to gently push the stick only halfway through, so that it does not poke out through the other end of the cake ball, but remains deep enough to support the cake ball. Take each one and dip it into the melted chocolate, making sure to coat well. Gently tap off any excess chocolate.
Immediately add any sprinkles, or decorative accents, if using. Then place the cake pop into something sturdy like a styrofoam block or styrofoam circle to allow the chocolate to set and harden.
For a final touch, cover the finished cake pop with a plastic cello bag. Tie and curl a ribbon around the base to add a decorative touch.
That is it! Now that you know how to make cake pops, whip up a batch and delight your friends and family!
